What makes this different from a random free template

Most free SWMS templates online are stale, US-focused, or cite the wrong sections of the WHS Regulation. This one isn’t.

Correct r.291 HRCW list

All 18 categories of High Risk Construction Work as they read in the current WHS Regulation 2011 (Qld). Half the free templates online still use the old 10/12/16 numbering — WorkSafe are not auditing to that.

Editable, not decorative

Real fillable form fields. Fill it in on your phone, edit in Adobe or Preview, or print it and mark it up on site. Not a PDF you have to retype into Word first.

Built by the Sitepack team

Sitepack is the app for Qld subbies who don’t want to write SWMS by hand. If this template starts feeling repetitive, it’s because it is — Sitepack does the same job in about 30 seconds by voice.

Frequently asked

Is this a real SWMS template or a marketing gimmick?

It's a real, editable SWMS template built to the WHS Regulation 2011 (Qld) — cited to r.291 (High Risk Construction Work categories) and r.299 (content, availability, review, consultation). It'll get you through an audit for a straightforward job. It's not customised to your specific work — for that, use Sitepack's voice-to-SWMS or write one from scratch.

Do I need Sitepack to use this template?

No. The PDF is yours to use however you like — fill it in on a phone, edit in Adobe or Preview, print it, whatever suits. The bottom of the template links back to Sitepack for anyone who wants to skip the paperwork entirely, but that's optional.

Which trades does the template cover?

It's a general-purpose SWMS template, not trade-specific. The HRCW checklist covers all 18 categories under r.291, so whether you're a plumber, electrician, roofer, concreter, glazier or anyone else doing high-risk construction work in Qld, you tick what applies to your job.

Will this satisfy my principal contractor?

Depends on the principal contractor. Most large builders have their own SWMS format they'll want you to use — this template is a fallback for when you're setting your own, or when the head contractor doesn't have a template of their own. Always check what your PC needs before you start.
